My Feast Of Divine Mercy

Mercy Sunday is a day that I will always observe. It is the day that Jesus Christ, through his divine mercy, opens the gates of heaven to all those who would on this day, adore and implore his divine mercy. Yesterday was that great feast day and I spent the day in feverent prayer, veneration of the divine mercy picture, thanksgiving to god, imploring his mercy for myself and for others. I went to mass thrice and prayed for so many people and so many things that I don't know if I left out anything still to be prayed for. I hope that people benefited from this day of grace and mercy abounding.

The feast was instituted by Saint Faustina, who through the request of our lord, established the feast for all mankind for benefit. Not just Roman Catholics. What intensified the experience for me even more was I was on a caramelite retreat in the mountains in a Benedictine monastery in my country. It has a fantatic view of the towns below and forest. And even more it is extremely quiet. What helped me the most was meditating on the passion of our lord to get deeper into the mystery of god's act of divine mercy. What I used was the diary of St. Faustina and I read from the book the Dolorous Passion Of Our Lord Jesus Christ, written by another saint.

This day is really for sinners and I am a big one of those. Trust me. This is what Jesus promised- "let the greatest sinners place their trust in my mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of my mercy. My daughter, write about my mercy towards tormented souls. souls that make an appeal to my mercy delight me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to my compassion, but on the contrary,I justify him in my unfathomable and inscrutable mercy. Write: before I come as a just judge, I first open wide the door of my mercy. He who refuses to pass through the door of my mercy must pass through the door of my justice." this is why I needed to recognize this day.

As I close let me just type out the promise of Jesus Christ to those who adore his mercy on the feast of divine mercy from the diary of blessed Faustina.

"My daughter, tell the whole world about my inconceivable mercy. I desire that the feast of mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of my tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of my mercy. The soul that will go to confession and receive holy communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Every thing that exists has come forth from the very depths of my most tender mercy. Every soul in relation to me will contemplate my love and mercy throughout eternity. The feast of mercy emerged from my very depths of tenderness. It is my desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the fount of my mercy."

So mark that date on your calendar, phone, email address etc. to remember and don't forget to say thankyou for mercy shown.
